Selena Watkins is a multi-hyphenated master of movement; a world-touring professional dancer, renowned leader in wellness and the CEO/founder of the signature dance fitness brand, Socanomics.
Originally from Yonkers, New York, Selena graduated from Rutgers University with a BFA in Dance & Broadcast Journalism.
Making her mark as a performing artist, her professional dance credits include:Nicki Minaj World Tour Superbowl LIV Halftime Show with Shakira Trainwreck the movie NBA Brooklynettes (’13-’15)
Selena can still be seen lighting up tv screens and live stages with many of today’s top music artists.
While building her resume as a dancer, Selena was crowned, Miss Black USA 2012. Leveraging this title, she dedicated the following years to serving as a motivational speaker and wellness influencer; encouraging her community to pursue a holistic lifestyle.
In 2013, Selena founded Socanomics®, a high energy workout that fuses dance, fitness and the energy of Caribbean carnival into an energizing & empowering experience.
By 2016, she was awarded Women’s Health Magazine’s Top Fitness Star; and featured in her first “High Intensity Dance Cardio” DVD.
This ignited the growth of Socanomics®, having been featured in Women’s Health Magazine, PopSugar, Self Magazine and other major platforms.
In 2020, Socanomics experienced a global boom, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Socanomics is now thriving in the virtual setting across the globe. This dance therapy inspires women to move their bodies, feel sexy, and stay in shape from the comfort & safety of their own home.
A combined career experience in fitness and entertainment has allowed Selena to teach movement from many different perspectives. From being a NASM certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist to performing in front of millions across the globe, Selena has found that movement has been the most common thread of her success and is the greatest give back to her community.
