After wowing basketball savants and music pundits with his silky vocals, Victor Oladipo, is hoping to stun everyone again with his debut music video, “Songs for You.”
In the video, Oladipo trades away his basketball shorts for a flowery button down and a black hat to complete his transformation as a budding R&B debonair. Sitting in front of a piano, Oladipo drowns himself deep in Donny Hathaway’s original track “A Song for You” and later, adds his own flair to spice up the timeless track.
“I’m a big Donny Hathaway fan. I’ve always been singing since I was like five-years-old and it’s just been a passion of mine to just do some kind of music when I had the chance to,” the NBA star told Billboard in an interview earlier this month. “So I wanted to remake it and show respect to Donnie, but at the same time, put a little twist on it at the end. It was a pretty cool experience. I’m glad it turned out so well.”
